Market needs, resource groups and effects
Supply is tracked for each good, while the effect is shown for the group. One stocked resource does not fill its neighbours’ needs. Use the group’s effect label in your game: historical official sources disagree on which of building materials or ores controls maintenance and production speed.

Find the resource group
The Produce Exchange illustration contains five groups. The table lets you identify goods without reading a full-size game screen on a phone. These are the article’s illustrated assignments, not a promise for every current build.
| Goods | Illustrated effect |
|---|---|
| Fruit · Grain · Vegetables | Settler health / illness chance |
| Fish · Meat · Salt | Settler health / illness chance |
| Clay · Stone · Wood | Maintenance speed — see version warning below |
| Coal · Copper Ore · Iron Ore | Production speed — see version warning below |
| Flax · Animal Hide · Sheep Wool | Satisfaction change |
Read the need and effect together
In the article’s model, meeting the basic need for all three resources removes the group penalty. Supplying one leaves the other shortages active. The article demonstrates a bonus at 175% of demand and uses the boxes beside materials to raise consumed units; read the requirement shown in your game instead of treating the screenshot’s 3 units as a universal threshold.

A version warning that changes the decision
The Market Effects article labels building materials as maintenance and ores as production speed. Demo Update 0.4.7 assigns the two effects the other way around. These sources cannot establish one universal assignment. Before targeting either bonus, read the effect under that group in your own build; do not buy a material solely from the historical mapping above.
What changes at Market Place
The official article says market rights open Market Place. Its categories affect convoy distance, reputation gain, employee wages and life expectancy. The screenshot labels the drink in the reputation group “Must”, while the prose calls it cider; this guide does not merge those labels into one confirmed item.

| Group | Effect |
|---|---|
| Preserved foods | Convoy travel distance |
| Beer · Bread · drink labelled Must in the image | Reputation gain |
| Luxury goods | Employee wages |
| Copper Goods · Pottery · Tools | Life expectancy |
